Article on Importing Cars Results in Two Lost Jobs
" Car Trouble"
From Public Eye Online by Sean Holman, Editor
As Public Eye Online reports, Victoria News Editor Keith Norbury was fired following an advertiser complaint about an article published by the newspaper. The article, authored by BrennanClarke, who also resigned recently, discussed the issue of importing cars into Canada. This isn't a blog per se, but the comments relating to this article in Public Eye Online do get heated -- and make mention of an article on importing cars into Canada, which was published in BCB Online last month. Check out the full text of the Victoria News article here -- and for a bit of background, read the BCB "Wheels in Motion" article too.
Excerpt:
“In an interview, Vancouver Island News Group president Mark Warner confirmed Mr. Norbury's forced departure was, in part, connected to the complaint. "There were a number of issues," he said. "But that was certainly one of them." Mr. Warner declined to say what those other issues may have been. Nor would he elaborate on how the complaint was connected to the firing.”

Reaction to Day on Private Health Care
"Watch Out for New CMA Boss"
From Bill Tielman
Brian Day, the new President of the Canadian Medical Association, is a name that seems to come up often in the blogosphere these days. Here writer Bill Tieleman takes issue with Day's perspective on public versus private health care.
Note: For more on Day, check out BCBusiness' recent profile, Day in Your Life.
Excerpt:
“Charge! The Canadian Medical Association has declared war on our public health-care system.
And tomorrow, Canada's doctors install as their commander-in-chief the
most radical and outspoken health-care privatization advocate in the country.Dr. Brian Day becomes president of the CMA weeks after the organization representing Canada's physicians said its members should be able to work simultaneously in both the public and private health-care sectors.”
