For the past decade, Vancouver has been hitting high scores in the gaming industry without even trying. Home to EA, Radical and Disney Interactive Studios, there’s no question the city is packing some serious heat. But another contender is on the horizon: Montreal, armed with government subsidies, lower operating costs and a steady stream of young creatives. The industry is responding to its lure, opening new studios and coaxing talent out east. Is the plug about to be pulled on B.C.’s gaming sector?
