Metro Vancouver is expected to absorb another 800,000 residents by 2031, and the regional body wants your help figuring out where to put them.

Metro Vancouver is drawing up a new regional strategic plan, and has been gathering input through a series of public hearings and workshops since 2006. It will produce a draft plan this spring, which will be circulated for comment and input.

Topics under consideration include how to build approximately 415,000 new homes and
create 400,000 new jobs without encroaching on existing green space; reducing energy use and adapting to climate change; and accommodating increased transportation demands while minimizing environmental impacts.

Visit the Metro Vancouver website for more information and for ways you can contribute (www.gvrd.bc.ca; choose “Regional Growth Strategy” on the left-hand column).
