‘Astary®’ is unique as an astilbe in that it doesn’t require vernalization – the winter process of cooling the seed during germination so that it will flower in spring.

Its natural compactness makes this cheery spring perennial an accommodating addition to any garden.

‘Astary®’ can also be forced indoors year-round in 10- to 12-cm (4- to 5-in.) pots, then transplanted to the garden in spring. Hardy to zone 3.
