Growing up in Tofino, Ron Burchett used to drive the shipyard workers crazy asking questions about the boats they worked on. To keep him busy, they’d give him blocks of wood and tell him to carve his own.

They got their first taste of beautiful B.C. when they hauled the kids and trailer over the Rockies for summer holidays. Apparently they liked what they saw. With retirement in sight, Albertans are tying up oil-fuelled real estate deals across B.C., with Vancouver Island their new homestead away from home.
